Gov’t to advertise top judicial posts in the region

Responding to a question from Stabroek News on the issue following his weekly post-cabinet press briefing, Harmon said that the government is currently speaking to the Guyana Bar Association as well as the acting chancellor and chief justice.

This is a slap in the face of CJ Chang and Chancellor Singh.

 

In my view, both of them have served the country well and were not confirmed after many years of "acting."

 

I consider them to have made fairly independent decisions in cases, and were not PPP puppets.

 

I do not agree with Granger blocking their appointments in the last Parliament.

 I know what you mean, you cannot have an Indo and a Chino holding the 2 top spots in the Judiciary , You have to have 2 Afro by hook or crook, kith and kin, hence the search. Ethnic cleansing of the Judiciary, remember Carl Greenidge remarks lately. Can't wait to see the PNC flag flying at the High Court

Our legal sector in Guyana is very vibrant.  Every year we add many new lawyers to the pack.

 

Why would we bring outsiders from the Caribbean?  Are Guyanese too dumb?

 

Our VC at Turkeyen is a foreigner who was never a VC before.

The Director of the Berbice Campus is an Indian national (although he paid his dues by being here over 8 years as a professor).

 

Why are we looking for Caribbean people to be CJ and Chancellor?

Might it be because our judiciary is corrupt, eh con man? The system needs to be cleansed.
