Government critic arrested - police awaits political instructions
Well known social media activist and government critic Rhonda Layne was earlier today arrested at her Den Amstel, West Demerara home by a squad of police ranks.
According to information reaching this publication, Layne was arrested on an allegation of verbally abusing a resident of her said community. In breach of standard police procedures she was taken to the Leonora Police Station instead of the local station, Den Amstel.
Relatives and friends who inquired about Layne’s detention, at Leonora were further told that she was detained on a warrant for cyber bullying published previously. The police have so far failed to provide evidence of such warrant.
When asked about bail for the detainee, officer in charge of the Leonora Police station said that they are awaiting instructions from Georgetown, thus making Layne’s arrest appear to be a matter of pur political spite.
