It was a mis-guided protest, not one seeking equity, but one seeking the preservation of privilege at the the expense of the rest of the nation. You must be able to discern the difference.

Loads of Guyanese felt that the sugar workers had obtained lots of privileges as a lagecy of Bookers....housing estates, cheap land, etc....denied to other Guyanese. The rest of the country is subsidizing them for electricity rates. This has been going on for a long time. The gov't wants Linden to pay its fair share. What is wrong with that?
