Government spent US$570K on Navin Chandarpal’s cancer treatment
Between November 2012 and September 2013, the government spent $116,902.000, or US$570K, on cancer treatments in Trinidad and the United States for former Adviser to the President Navin Chandarpal.
According to a list of nationwide medical assistance funded by the Ministry of Health, Chandarpal who eventually succumbed to the disease in October 2014 was first diagnosed and treated in late November 2012 in Trinidad and Tobago incurring expenses of$ $4.12M. In December 28 his bill, paid by the government, was $30.98M. Another bill from May 2013 amounted to $31.3M and in September 2013 a further $50.6M was paid.
