The Guyana Government today announced its intention to establish a Public Procurement Commission (PPC). This was today revealed by Cabinet Secretary Dr Roger Luncheon during his weekly press briefing. Luncheon said that an amendment to the Public Procurement Act will be tabled at the next sitting of Parliament and subsequent to the tabling of the Amendment, the government nominees will will then be identified for parliamentary consideration.
Since coming to office in 1992 the PPP/C has implemented several efforts all aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability. One such was the enactment of legislation which provides for the creation of a Public Procurement Commission.
