Government to push recycling projects

The ministry of local government has received proposals for the setting up of recycling plants in nine of the ten administrative regions.

The outstanding one is region four.

This initiative is expected to play an integral role in the management of Guyana’s solid waste.

Local government minister Ganga Persaud says the relevant documents are being finalised.

Minister Persaud says the government will be playing a part to get the recycling projects off the ground.

And this will involve granting certain concessions to the investors.

The local government minister says they are eagerly awaiting the operationalization of the recycling plants.

Accompanying the setting up of the plants would be a vibrant public awareness campaign.

And this is to ensure that every Guyanese are aware of the benefits of recycling
