During his feature address, the Head of State revealed: “We have initiated discussions on having a new area – a secondary city – developed. We are exploring this opportunity along the new four-lane highway because we are already seeing the pressure on the city itself.”
According to the President, the secondary city will be connected to the new four-lane road; that is, the East Coast-East Bank Bypass Road, which is pegged to be a catalyst in the development of Guyana’s infrastructure.
Back in 2013 at the fourth International Building and Construction Exposition, Ali, who was then the Housing and Water Minister, had unveiled ‘Silica City’, which he had said would be the first real initiative that would take the industry, commerce, and residential housing to higher ground.

I agree that the government needs to move away from Georgetown and go to higher grounds. GT is overcrowded with traffic, people, and constant flooding. I know Belize have done that many years ago and so is other countries, to move to other cities. They can make heliports from there to GT until the place is fully ready to relocate. Ok, let's talk about the assumed name of the new city. New Santa Rosa?

This is not about relocation.

They are discussing building a new city for relocating the government and its ministries first and foremost. They had plans to build Selica City in the area before 2015. What do you think this is all about, Rama?

think about the natural expansion of the city – the industrialization that will take place, manufacturing – and naturally, the growth is expanding itself.
I thought the project was dead. The Coalition should have taken up the plan and run with it.
Gobbledygook...all of it.
