Georgetown, Aug 31 (Prensa Latina) The program of medical scholarships established between Guyana and Cuba celebrated Thursday the graduation of 38 new doctors, and it was dedicated to the late leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz.
Rupert Roopnaraine, Guyanese Minister of Public Service, expressed gratitude for the extraordinary contribution of Cuba in training public health professionals, and highlighted their contribution to the efforts to enhance the quality of life for the Guyanese people.

Cuban Ambassador to Guyana Julio Cesar Gonzalez Marchante said that with this graduation 790 Guyanese doctors have graduated at the Cuban Medicine School and reiterated his Government's commitment to continue training of youngster so that they contribute to the development of peoples.

The event was celebrated at the Guyanese National Cultural Center, where Minister Roopnaraine acknowledged Cuban medicine professors for their valuable work in training the Guyanese young men and women for over six years.

The Guyanese Foreign Minister and second Vice President Carl Barrington Greenidge, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports George Norton and other governmental officials presided over the ceremony attended by members of the diplomatic corp accredited in Guayana, representatives of the Cuban Embassy and relatives of the graduates.
