Granger’s US trip was private

…returns home after skipping NY Victory Parade

President David Granger returned to Guyana Sunday afternoon following a short private trip to the United States. It was widely speculated that President Granger had abruptly flown out  to the US on Friday to be part of a Victory Parade and rally held in New York on Sunday, however, he was a no show

at the event which commenced around 11:00h and by 15:30h he was back home. It is unclear what the nature of the President’s trip was. On Friday when it was announced that the President had left the country there were no details. However, Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo writing on his Facebook page said “This morning our President David Granger left for the USA on a private visi

t, and he appointed me to perform his functions until his return shortly.” Speculations on Sunday were rife that the President had gone to the US for a medical check-up, however this could not be confirmed. Since being sworn in, Granger has had a hectic schedule swearing in ministers and attending several functions including his Independence Day inauguration and last week’s opening of Parliament. Granger was elected and sworn in as the 8th Executive President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Head of State of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. He is also the Leader of the coalesced A Partnership for National Unity and Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) Government elected on May 11, 2015. He is a graduate of the University of Guyana, where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees; the University of the West Indies, where he received his post-graduate Diploma in International Relations; and the University of Maryland, where he was a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow. He also attended the Urban Policy Development Workshop at the University of California, Los Angeles; the Defense Planning and Resource Management course at the National Defense University, Washington DC; and the Counter-Terrorism Educators’ Workshop at the Joint Special Operations, University, Florida, USA. Brigadier Granger is a former Commander of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), and National Security Adviser to President Hoyte.  He received his military training at the Mons Officer Cadet School, and the School of Infantry in the United Kingdom; the Jungle Warfare Instruction Centre in Brazil, and the Army Command and Staff College in Nigeria. He was a member of several defence and security agencies. He held the chairmanship of the Central Intelligence Committee; co-chairmanship of the Border and National Security Committee; and was a member of the Guyana Defence Board, National Drug Law Enforcement Committee, and the Disciplined Forces Commission. David Granger has served in several public organization.

I am reliably informed Granger was in Washington for "consultations."

It seems Guyana has a President once again who spends his time serving the Guyanese State.

I salute His Excellency!

I heard he had a meeting with Obama.

Shaits, if you play the game right, you may get the DC Ambassador job. Keep saluting; shouting 'hip, hip, hooray'; etc.; all this will help.

Venezuela is gonna get screwed badly. My own opinion is that this is gonna get sent to the Security Council and then the ICJ which will affirm the 1899 Arbitral Award. This should further weaken the Maduro Regime and of course make a boatload of cash for Exxon-Mobil. Everyone wins. Except Venezuela of course. This Decree went too far in that it authorized the use of naval and maritime force. The Decree was a blessing in disguise for Guyana.

Prime Minister Nagamootoo was politically correct in stating that President Granger made a private visit to the United States. It was not a State visit, but that doesn't mean that he couldn't meet with US State Department or White House officials. Of course, Venezuela's intelligence service trained its antenna towards the visit. In due course, the outcome of the visit will be manifested off the Essequibo Coast. Take that as a hint.

The words "private visit" was what betrayed the whole thing. Plus there was plenty of time for Granger to go to the rally in Brooklyn. He opted not to. He doesn't seem to be fond of his party leader hat.
