Granger et al has no "government business" so should use their personal resources to go about their campaigning. Since the parliament is not disbanded, they are still due the privilidges of their office. The president acknowledge this when he suggested his suspension was to facilitate dialogue. You do not speak to people who hold not portfolio.

The political opposition has been saying all along that the $10,000 "Because We Care" grant distribution was part of the PPP's electioneering, as is the 5 to 8 percent unilateral public servants salary hike with one-year back pay.

The opposition also argued that the PPP regime's allocation of $500 million for Georgetown cleanup was part of the PPP's elections plan too.

This whole idea that only members of the government should be entitled to state's fund and protection in their pursuit of upholding democracy strikes me rather odd. Is the PPP trying to outlaw all opposition parties and establish a declared dictatorship, or a communist one party state?  This is about the 10th time that the PPP has suggested that opposition parliamentarians should be stripped of a state salary and privileges due to them by international democracy convention no less. Only countries such as China and North Korea do not have a state recognised opposition.
