GSCL Inc to host Prime Minister’s Cup in October

The Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc (GSCL Inc) will be hosting Guyana’s Premier softball tournament dubbed the Prime Minister’s Cup in October.
According to Secretary of the GSCL Inc Telesha Ousman, eight teams including three from the United States of America have confirmed their participation. She added that the tournament will be played in the Open and Masters categories and will commence on October 27 and conclude two days later. Ousman said that they will accept 16 teams, eight in each division.
Those that have already confirmed their participation are New York Hustlers, New York President’s X1, Regal Masters and HS Masters of Guyana, and in the open category; SVC All Stars of the USA, Regal Allstars, Farm and Speedboat.
Players must be over the age of 45 in order to play in the Masters segment and no entrance fee is required. The winning team in the Open division will pocket a trophy and $600,000 while the champions in the Masters segment will take home a trophy and $500,000.
The venues earmarked to host the matches are Demerara Cricket Club (DCC), Everest Cricket Club, Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO), Police and GNICSC.
Teams in the Masters’ category are asked to note that they must submit photo identification, preferably valid passports for every member of their 15-man squad.
