GT BEER/BFA/Candy Boss Eight-a-side Football continues in Berbice

The GT BEER/BFA/Candy Boss Berbice eight-a-side football tournament continues Friday with two matches at the All Saints School Ground in New Amsterdam.
Orealla Falcons will clash with Beacons in the first match at 19:00 hours, while the second game will see Edinburg Gunners opposing Soccer City at 21:00 hours.
Edinburg Gunners secured two contrasting victories last weekend in battles against Rosignol United and Republicans FC.
The Gunners humbled Rosignol United 3-0 with Joseph Giddings scoring a double in the 22nd and 25th minutes, while Renaldo August hit home the third goal in the 41st minute.
Sherlock Phillips and Sherwin Nicholson netted in the 16th and 21st minutes respectively as Gunners edged out Republicans 2-1.
James Isaacs scored the consolation goal for the Republicans.
Police went on a goal rampage against Corriverton Links beating the Corentyne side 4-0.
Rawle Haynes scored back to back goals in the 7th and 8th minutes to give his team a 2-0 lead at half time. Junior Gordon and Rawl Thornhill then put the issue beyond doubt with strikes in the 43rd and 49th minutes of play.
In the current points standing, Monedderlust lead Group A with nine points followed by Mahaica Det. and Golden Stars FC locked on three points, while Orealla Falcons are yet to record a point.
Georgetown Police lead Group B also with nine points followed by Black Sharks on four points, Mahaicony FC one point and Corriverton Links yet to record a point.
In Group C, Beacon s FC lead with six points followed by Orealla βBβ and Arsenal on five points each, Berbice Police four points and Hopetown FC one.
In Group D, Edinburg Gunners lead with nine points followed by Rosignol on 6, Republicans 3, Young Strikers also on 3 and Soccer City yet to score.
Two teams will advance from each group to the knockout stage. The final is set for New Yearβs Day.
Meanwhile, on Sunday Republicans will square off with Rosignol United at 19:00 hours, while Hopetown will tackle Berbice Police at 21:00 hours.
