The Bartica Community Centre Tarmac will come alive tonight when the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Competition hits Region 7. This will mark the end of zone competitions in the event with the national finals set to commence shortly after its completion. Guinness Brand Manager Lee Baptiste said that fans in Bartica can expect an exciting weekend of football. “We expect an exciting tournament and the residents of the community will prove that they are “Made of More” as they support the teams in their quest for glory,” he added. Sixteen teams will battle for top honours with the top team advancing to the national playoffs set for next month. Six matches are scheduled for tonight with the opening fixture bringing together Almanac Kings versus Time Square at 19:00hrs and this encounter will be followed by Campbellville squaring off against Street Kings at 19:30 hours. River View then take on Lotto Arcade at 20:00 hours, before Plantain Slice oppose Young Guns. Police and Beacon One Love collide at 21:00 hours, while All Stars and Beacon Die Hard bring down the curtains at 21:30 hours. Tomorrow two preliminary matches will be played featuring Potaro Strikers against Lazio at 19:00 hours and Impact versus Ballers, before the start of the quarter finals. The semi-finals and finals will be played on Sunday along with the third place playoff and several exhibition matches. The Zone winners will join those from the Georgetown, East Coast Demerara, Linden, Berbice and West Demerara/East Bank Demerara zones.
