Guyana Association of Women Police to host Horse Race Meet month end

Turfites and horseracing fans in Berbice will be excited to hear that the Port Mourant Turf Club in collaboration with the Guyana Association of Women Police (GAWP) will be hosting a grand one-day Horse Race Meet on Sunday February 25.
A total of seven races will punctuate the day’s activity with close to 2Million in cash being set aside for prizes. The G Class and Lower will be the feature race of the day to be contested over a distance of 8-furlongs with a top prize of $350,000.
The J Class and Lower which will be sprinted over a distance of 7-furlongs will attract a first place prize of $200,000 while the K Class and Lower and the L Class Open that will both be raced over a distance of 6-furlongs have first place prizes of $160,000 and $140,000, respectively.
Meanwhile, the L Class division 2 and the Unclassified will both be contested over a distance of 5-furlongs with cash prizes of $100,000 and $90,000 respectively, at stake.
