Guyana Beverage Company 60 miles Tampico Cycle road race has been fixed for Caricom Day July 3 and not July 2 as was previously stated. The Guyana Beverage Company in Guyana, which is a subsidiary of the Trinidad based SM Jaleel and Company with business in many Caricom Countries, is living up to its reputation as a true Caribbean Company and has partnered with organisers the Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) under the Companyβs Tampico Brand to stage the event. According to organiser Randolph Robert, this is opportune that a company with many subsidiaries in other Caribbean Countries will be part of the race to be held on Caricom Day. Roberts said that when the thought was put to Managing Director Robert Selman, he readily agreed with the idea. The event, which was held annually in Berbice, was off the radar for a few years. This was mainly due to the absence of Mr. Selman who had returned to his native Trinidad. Now with Selman back in the fray the event has returned to the calendar. The riders will pedal off from in front of the companyβs Berbice office at Palmyra, East Coast, Berbice, proceed to the No51 Police Station and back for the finish. An official handing over of the sponsorship is slated for during this week at the Companyβs office. Guyana Beverage Co. distributes the popular Busta soft drinks, Fruta, Tampico, Viva, Island Mist water, Kool Kids, Cran Water and American Classic brands among others.
