Firearm holder shoots alleged bandit who robbed sister
- firearm recovered
A man suspected of robbing a businesswoman last week is nursing gunshot wounds after he was allegedly shot yesterday by the brother of the woman he had robbed.
Dexter Lindo, of Kitty, was reportedly shot three times at around 13.00 hrs after being cornered by the licensed firearm holder at the junction of Light and Sixth Streets, Alberttown.
His condition is listed as critical. Two other men managed to escape.
Police recovered an unlicensed firearm, a slipper and a wallet with local and foreign currency from a tinted white Toyota Premio car, bearing registration number PMM 4657, that the suspects had allegedly used.
According to reports, Lindo and others were suspects in a robbery which was committed on a businesswoman at Bourda last week.
The victim’s brother, who received information of what transpired, began enquiring about the suspects and their vehicle.
There are reports that the men found out that the businesswoman’s brother was looking for them.
“When they hear that, they went back to the store yesterday and threatened the woman. After they leave, she called her brother and he immediately started looking,” a police source said.
The brother allegedly caught up with the men in Alberttown.
It is alleged that one of the men shot at the brother who returned fire and wounded Lindo, who reportedly ran into a nearby shop where the police found him covered in blood.
At the hospital yesterday, the suspect’s mother refused to speak to the media and prevented other relatives and friends from divulging information.
