Guyana invited to explore investment opportunities in Iran – as new Iranian Ambassador is accredited
New Iranian Ambassador to Guyana Hojattolah Soltani has extended an invitation for a Guyanese delegation comprising agricultural and industrial stakeholders to explore opportunities in Iran as efforts continue to deepen relations between the two countries.

After presenting his letters of Credence to President Donald Ramotar today, Ambassador Soltani expounded on a few areas in which Iran has profound expertise, making reference to mining, agriculture and industry.
Iran had also offered support to Guyana in the mapping of mineral reserves after a visit to the Islamic State by former President Bharrat Jagdeo three years ago, in his new frontier quest.
Discussions with the country’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Supreme LeaderAyatollahAli Khamenei were followed by an advance team of geological experts from the Geological Survey of Iran (GIS) visiting Guyana on a fact – finding mission.
The delegation comprised experts in geological and mineral investigations who collect results, establish inter-relationships and publish geological maps of Iran.

The intervention was welcomed, especially with Guyana lacking the necessary data needed to support the development of mineral resource projects and the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission’s efforts to develop capacity to guide mineral investors.
The Iranian Government also welcomed any initiative to support relations between the Parliaments of the two countries, Ambassador Soltani told President Ramotar, confident that such relations are hallmarks of bilateral relations.
At the multilateral level, Guyana and Iran are both members of the United Nations (UN), the Non Aligned Movement and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), all of which serve as platforms for the further strengthening of relations, President Ramotar said.
He expressed the hope that Ambassador Soltani’s appointment will provide an opportunity for the two countries to explore several areas and welcomed those that were suggested.
