Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Karate Association successful at Best of the best championship

The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Karate Association turned in a solid performance at the Best of the best Martial Arts Championship on Sunday last at the National Gymnasium.

The organisation copped medals in the various categories through: 6 and under male Kemani Douglas who was 3rd in the traditional kata and Sachin Ram 4th traditional kata.

The 7-9 male resulted in – Obama Prosper finishing 1st in the traditional kata, Adrian Rambarran 2nd traditional kata, 2nd sparring and 2nd in the team kata; Mahendra Gorakh 1st traditional kata, 1st weapon form, Isaiah Busby 1st sparring, 2nd traditional kata and 3rd weapon form.

In the 10-12 male division: Shamar Francis was 1st in traditional kata and1st in sparring, Altaf Singh 3rd traditional kata, Justin Gildarie 1st in traditional kata and 3rd in sparring.

The 10-12 females saw Cassia Parmanand finishing 1st in the traditional kata.

The 10-12 black belts – Zafar Ramnarine 1st in the weapons form, 1st in free form, 1st in traditional kata and 2nd in the team kata.

The 16-19 Advanced category saw Abrar Wahid emerging 1st in the weapons form and 3rd in the traditional kata, Raul Joseph 2nd traditional kata, 2nd weapon form and 2nd sparring.

The 20-24 males – Randolph Christen 1st in traditional kata and 3rd in sparring; while in the 20-24 black belt male – Lloyd Smith was 1st in the free form.
