The late Dr. Patricia Rose was the wife of the late Sir David Rose who was the First Governor General of Guyana.  A medical doctor by profession, she studied medicine at the Royal Free School of Medicine in London where she obtained her MRCS and LRCP in 1952. She is best known for her pioneering work at the Mahaica Hospital in the Hansen’s Disease in-house and outreach programmes where she worked for 18 years.

Lady Rose returned to the country of her birth, England in February, 1988.  She was the mother of six children – most of whom are in the medical profession or are scientists – and 15 grandchildren.

She was a classy first lady.   I don't think any of the ones that followed her could walk in her shoes.

Not even Janet Jagan who was First Lady from October 1992 to March 1997?

I like Dr. Patricia Rose better because she was a humanitarian.  Sheila Bernice Lataste Burnham was also a very accomplished and honorable woman.  My bias is based on accomplishment.  Unfortunately, in my opinion, the Indian first ladies did not make the cut.
