Guyana's indigenous people took to the streets of Georgetown in record numbers to protest budget cuts that would directly affect their communites. This protest was not against the government of Guyana, but against two opposition parties that have been playing politics with the 2014 budget. Amerindians, who now make up about 12% of the voting population sent a stern message message to the nation stating clearly that the protest will continue until the opposition gives in. The AFC, a small breakaway faction of the ruling PPP found itself cornered and isolated quickly changed their position after realizing the unpopularity of their stance in parliament.
