Guyana’s rich history showcased during Children’s Costume competition

 

Guyana’s rich history and diverse culture were showcased, as a kaleidoscope of colours filled the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall during the costume segment of the Georgetown leg of the Children’s Mashramani Competition today.

 

Teachers had the opportunity to showcase their creativity, while the Nursery, Primary and Secondary School students impressed the judges in the Fantasy and Topical category.

For the individual Nursery Fantasy category, Head Start Nursery gained first place; Selman Fraser Nursery, second and  East Ruimveldt Nursery third, while Alexander Village Nursery took the prize for being the only entry in the Topical category.

In the Nursery group Fantasy category, East Street, Colaaco and Sherman’s Nursery schools placed first, second and third respectively, while in the Topical category, Lodge Nursery came in first place.

 

St Angela’s and St Ann’s Primary schools placed first and second respectively in the individual 5-7 years category, while for the Group Fantasy category, St Angela’s Primary took the prize as it was the only entry.

For the 8-10 years Individual Fantasy category, St Ann’s Primary copped first place, followed by Winfer Gardens Primary, second and West Ruimveldt Primary, third. In the Topical category, Monar Educational Institute gained first place, South Ruimveldt, second and Ketley Primary, third.

The 8-10 years group Fantasy category, Monar educational Institute placed first, followed by Ketley Primary in second. Smith Memorial Primary gained first place in the Fantasy category, followed by West Ruimveldt, second, and Sophia Primary, third.

In the 11-13 years Individual Topical category, St Stephen gained first place and Tucville Primary second, and in the fantasy category, North Georgetown Primary copped first and Rama Krishna second.  St Stephen took the prize for being the only entry in the group Topical category.

Meanwhile, for the 14-17 years individual and group Fantasy categories, Sophia Special School gained first place, while Cummings Lodge Secondary placed first in the Topical category.
