Guyana is becoming a melting pot of South America. Two Bangladeshis brothers and their family ventured to Guyana in search of job and a better living, but later ran into immigration problems. They then set out to Barbados where their worst nightmare began and they were deported back to Guyana. Their ordeal is now over and they're granted to stay until 2016.

This is a wonderful story when people from around the globe speaks of Guyana's prosperity and hospitality of it's people. If a word of mouth can attract foreigners to seek a better living in Guyana, then the possibility of finding black gold will definitely attract a mass exudes of people to our country's front door.

God bless Guyana!

With the persistence of intractable bigots like you what melting pot are you talking about? Do you realize the melting means mating with the sacred Indian female!

Storm, would you go to Bangladesh in search of job and intend to move freely without proper entry documents? Guyana is not a cow boy country. It has laws like any other and they are enforceable. End of story!

there was no point in keeping them in jail. They were destitute, pose no problem to the society and could be furloughed into the society with specific check in instructions until the government can repatriate them or until some alternative could be worked out. The US does that all the time

According to you every law breaker should be out of jail as though our police, lawyers and Judges don't know better. Why didn't you ask Moses or Ramjattan to defend the brothers and free them much earlier?

Knucklehead, if you overload the front end of the justice system with non violent offenders you soon bankrupt it. It is not a matter of law breakers but what law they break.

These people like over 70% of Guyanese presently in the US are trying to make a better life. They are not out to commit crimes. They could have easily been accommodated by simple common sense restrictions until the government can repatriate them to their homeland or some other humanitarian aid intervenes.

You cannot lock them up forever. The reason they are out is because people like me highlighted their plight and legal limbo status.

And what does Moses or Ramjattan has to do with prudent, common sense solutions to this problem?
