Irresponsible and reckless behaviour by dumping Styrofoam in the alleys and trenches. The citizens must own up

Guyana, unfortunately, has the challenges with flooding from time immemorial.
Some of the highest floods on record have occured in the 1800's. I provided much detailed information on GNI a few years ago.
Simply matter, just like in the 1800's, 1900's and much earlier, though admittedly uncomfortable, address the unpredicted cyclic issues, as best as possible.

That is a part of the problem.
There is a need for the country to adapt "a Greener path"
Need to learn more from the past disasters.
This problem is one of the "PLAGUES of Guyana"

We should have a team of engineers specially trained to deal with flooding. These people must be paid well.

They are in the rum shop sampling the water.

Guyanese need to be more pro-active in community service, and the government need to consult with engineers from countries in similar situation. I would recommend the Dutch from Holland.
Thailand just had a massive Flood. Accept it as BLESSINGS. The water will go away. We are NOT more powerful than Nature!!!

Let us not forget that most of the waterworks and flood prevention methods currently in use in Guyana were installed by the Dutch the last time Guyana was a Dutch colony...

Even though the effect of climate change is upon us.....every country including Guyana is doing its best with limited resources to bring relief to its citizens...

Albert......You blame climate change for the PPP minority Govt too
MAYOR Hamilton Green is at his paltry attempt to justify (HIS) incompetence and politicking as he lords over the constant decay of the city. The citizens of Georgetown are only too familiar with his feeble political manoeuvrings which fall within the scope of geriatricsâ competence. It is Green who believes that to have the city flourishing in its most glorious form, is to bring political credit to the PPP/C Administration. It is this outdated mentality that bears responsibility for the many ills that bedevil our society today. How could such stupidity reconcile with the great expectations and desires of our citizens for a modern, well-kept ambience in Georgetown?
City Hall has mismanaged its finances and resources repeatedly under Greenâs leadership, a situation destined to occur taking into account his many unsuccessful sojourns into various sectors under the PNC regime. So the city suffers from two types of incompetence, one that is of natural flow and the other deliberate, handy work by the Mayor.
There has been billions of dollars pumped into the city in addition to the direct assistance from central government in the construction of roads, bridges, cleaning of drains and canals and other works which have been neglected by the Mayor and City Council.
While there is the effort to convince us the council is cash-strapped, the Mayor and City Council approves a steady salary increase for themselves. Green knows that to score political points, as cheap as they are,is to blame the government for not granting the council additional revenue streams. How can the citizens trust the council to handle additional sums when they cannot be prudent and accountable for those they currently have in their possession?
It is Greenâs rotten politics that has us under the might of the stench in the City.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Shamdeo Persaud says the health system has been placed on high alert in the wake of the heavy rains at the weekend and with La Nina conditions forecast to continue until the end of March.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday he noted that there are certain health risks that emerge with the change in weather as has happened and the ministry has moved to be proactive first by making people aware of the risks.
âWe also at this point in time are putting the health system on high alert to respond to such risks. Weâve commenced from this week to look continuously at the daily information that is generated by our health facilities, to look at particular areas like diarrhoeal diseases, skin infections, respiratory infections,â Dr. Persaud said

Broad statements and Claims!
West Coast Demerara is in a better shape and so is Essequibo. So flooding is just affecting a section of Guyana.
Georgetown is not Guyana
