I still say again

...there has to be parliamentary rules that can be brought to punish the AFC and PNC officials (including Volda Lawrence) who clearly threatened Charandass...it is there for the public to see...

While we are at it also deal with the threats made by assorted PPP individuals, one now projected to be the presidential candidate.

If people want to be fair than be fair!

Any threats made by anyone should be dealt with...especially in this moment when emotions are high....before instigators create chaos.

It was commendable, given the history of this country, for Nagamootoo, Preisdent Granger and the Speaker to behave in a professional way and acted in a manner that calls for peace and respect for the Constitution. I thought Granger's statement was important in sending a clear signal to all Guyanese.

However, the racial problem notwithstanding, I believe (I could be wrong) from what I know and what I am seeing, these events can either drag the country into chaos or move the country towards greater democracy. I am hopeful since most of you here keep pointing out that most of Guyana's  population are young people who are not tainted by the things that divided people in the past.

I think the no confidence vote can show people that its not always about voting blindly for a party when that party does not address the needs of its supporters...it can make people thing for themselves and encourage a "civic responsibility" as citizens. Once people can think for themselves, they are more likely to encourage democratic changes within their own parties...this is certainly needed in the PPP.

Regarding the behavior of the parliamentarians. Videos do not lie.

I am disturbed by the fact that ON CAMERA a member of parliament was threatened or cursed at by colleagues of his own party and others.

It is disturbing to know that a possible future Presidential candidate of the PNC, Volda Lawrence could issue a threat to the same person...in full view of the world (I have only read about this part, not seen it in video, as some people and Charandass claim). This kind of stuff reveals people's worst behavior....and it makes Guyana look like a real banana republic...in full view of the world.

Your comments forced me to go back an look at the videos....not living in that country, I find it difficult to believe that grown adults can exhibit this type of behavior.

I am convinced that this person is no Judas, but his video interview convinces me he voted his conscience. The issue that was raised about why he supported the budget and then voted with the opposition is still out there...but i would be curious about his explanation.

From what I am reading on Facebook, there could have possibly been two other defections, one other being Sharma

....if this is the case, the coalition now appears pitifully inept and out of touch with their own supporters and their own Parliamentarians!
