Guyanese CSEC top students to be honoured tomorrow - Cabinet lauds awardees for bringing recognition to Guyana

The outstanding academic performances by Guyanese students at the Caribbean Secondary Examinations Council (CSEC) have been lauded by Cabinet, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon said today, during his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing.
 
Dr Luncheon stated that Guyana remains a consistent high performer and the four students who topped the regional examinations in their respective subject areas will be honoured on December 4, by the Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) at the University of the West Indies at its Mona Campus, Jamaica.
 

 

The students who follow a long list of similar performances by preceding students, “have brought recognition and engendered pride in our education system” according to Dr. Luncheon.   
 
Elisa Hamilton, of Queen’s College gained the Overall Outstanding Achievement award; Aliyyah Abdul Kadir, of Queen’s College as well, was deemed the Most Outstanding in Humanities while another classmate,   Ryhan Chand, was adjudged the Most Outstanding in Business Studies.  Kishan Crichlow of New Amsterdam Multilateral School was pronounced as the most outstanding in Technical Vocational.
 
In 2013, Guyana won five of the eight awards offered. The winners were: Yogeeta Persaud - Anna Regina Secondary School, Overall Outstanding Achievement; Rafena Mustapha - Saraswati Vidya Niketan, Most Outstanding in Humanities; Cecil Cox – Queen’s College, Most Outstanding in Sciences; Sasha S Woodroffe – Queen’s College, Most Outstanding in Business Studies; and Zimeena A Rasheed - Anna Regina Secondary School, Most Outstanding in Technical Vocational. 
 
For 2012, Essequibian, Sarah Hakh from the Abram’s Zuil Secondary School won the award for the Most Outstanding Candidate Overall in the region while Bishops’ High school student, Tamasha Narine was judged as the Most Outstanding Candidate in Business Education while her classmate, Deowattie Narine won the Most Outstanding Candidate in the Sciences. St Rose’s High student, Karran Singh was awarded the Most Outstanding Candidate in Technical Vocational Education.

Congratulations to all of them on their academic achievements.

What you should be asking is what are the boys doing?  3 out of 4 were girls.

 

Congrats to them.

 

What the PPP needs to focus on is that once again Guyanese did the worst on average in English and Math.
