Guyanese Darshan Ramdhani is Grenada’s new Attorney General
Grenada’s new Attorney General is Guyanese national Darshan Ramdhani who was sworn into office yesterday at the Office of the Governor General in St George’s, Grenada according to reports out of Grenada.
Ramdhani, who moved to Grenada in the early 2000s, served in various positions within the Ministry of Legal Affairs. He was a magistrate in one of the neighbouring islands.
On the invitation of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States Supreme Court, Ramdhani acted as a High Court Judge on a number of occasions. He also completed a 10-month stint in St. Kitts as the resident judge.
He also served as a judge in the criminal jurisdiction in St Lucia, the British Virgin Islands, Antigua and Anguilla. He has delivered over 70 written decisions over this period.
Ramdhani, a former Solicitor General of Grenada, has also acted as the Director of Public Prosecutions. He has worked with the governments of Grenada and the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI).
In the TCI he was the senior lawyer in the Civil Litigation Department, a prosecutor and lead counsel for the Financial Intelligence Unit.
He served also as a lawyer in Guyana.
Carib, how come this Indo is offered such a senior position, I thought you said they go to the Islands to clean toilets.
