Too often good marriages wound up in divorce or separation where 95% of men left with one butty buckta on after a bitter court battle is fought. If children are involved, 99% of the time, they will be awarded to the mother. We love the American justice system, but it's not justified in 95% of all domestic cases. The house that you worked your seed off to buy to put a roof over your family, may have to be liquidated to pay off your soon to be ex-wife.

You don't have to be rich or poor to consider a Prenuptial Agreement. Just as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, love is also in the eyes of the beholder. Don't get fooled by a piece of punani. Stop thinking with your penis and do the right thing.

Trump once made a statement in an interview when he was married to his first wife. He said that he never buys expensive jewellery for his wife because if she divorced him that would be money wasted. That sounds like a real old timer old fashion koolie man.

Even nowadays, Trump don't pay people their due. Yet all the Trumpsters think he will spend sleeplessness nights wondering about if they are safe or employed.

Cobs is a divorce lawyer now?

I am not a lawyer, but I have given advise to clients who are divorced and currently experiencing difficulties in their relationship as a paralegal. Most Guyanese males are considering prenuptial agreement seriously. You have to be in a position and understand the financial difficulties separation can cause families. This is an option for both male and female who wish to have a relationship, but don't know what the outcome would be later in life. It's not fair to work your entire life and have everything disappeared because of a bad relationship.

I am in favor of pre-nuptial agreements.

Now, let's examine the phrase "Guyanese in America". Which ones? I can see Afro-Guyanese willing and able to sign pre-nuptial agreements. Not so easy with Indians. You see, in the first place, many Indians prefer to marry their daughters into families that have plenty money or property, and to men who have "good jobs" and high positions. For such people, marriage is an investment, a promise of financial security. Will they consider pre-nuptial agreements? IMHO, not likely, unless they are guaranteed substantial packages.

Whenever my son decides to marry, I'm thinking of a prenup but the girl and her family may not agree to it.

Why not? I see no robbery in an equitable split in wealth. It guarantees that no one left empty handed if a relationship has to end. I don't know about any other State, but in New York, it's something worth considering. In my years dealing with clients, I have seen endless Guyanese fell victim because love and trust didn't last forever.
