PPP[www.inewsguyana.com] – General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Clement Rohee has noted that even though the Party is set and ready for Local Government Elections and National Elections, it needs to assess the mood of the Guyanese people before a date is announced.

Rohee told reporters at a press conference at the Party’s Freedom House Headquarters on Monday, June 02 that the delay on the government’s part in calling the elections also has to do with timing.

“It is a question of timing and judgment call. The Party is ready, the machinery is oiled but it is the mood of the people. These are senses which politicians are attuned to,” the General Secretary told the news conference.

When questioned, he admitted that the ‘mood for elections’ by the population is growing, either for local government or national elections.

“People are now psychologically prepared for any of the two elections,” Rohee said.

There have been widespread calls from various sections of society for local government elections to be held, given the state of the City and Regional Democratic Councils.

The PPP was victim of their own success at the 2011 polls, complacency and incumbency fatigue too its toll.

At the next elections be it local or General the PPP has learned from its mistakes and also had recovered from incumbency fatigue, that party is in the best stead to regain the majority.

They are trying to assess whether its base (Indians) plan to vote, and how many Amerindian tochaos can be bought off.

If not sure, no elections.

The AFC pulled a lot of votes in the PPP heartland.  Is that an indication that the PPP is a victim of its own success?

The opposition parties pulled MORE voters than last time.  While the PPP pulled fewer, continuing a trend that has been visible since teh 1997 elections.  Is that an indication that the PPP is a victim of its own succeess?

Voter turn out increased in PNC strongholds, but declined in PPP strongholds.  Is that an indication that the PPP is a victim of its own success?

Come on PPP. Local Elections first. Have no fear, you will win.

Shuffle the cabinet and bring in some young and fresh minds. Balance the party based on the current racial makeup of Guyana. Create a strategy for combatting corruption and fire the dead weight in the PPP. Show your supporters that you are willing to modernize the PPP.

The longer the party drags this on, the more the opposition will have a chance to prepare.

With the current opposition seen as anti development, the PPP will win. The native votes will play a crucial role and please, please take care of your base.

Today Rummouthar refused to assent to the opposition opposed bill to hold the Local Government Elections. PPP running scared.

Moses is no longer a valuable piece on the political chess table. He has hurted his own political career by betraying those who voted for him in the last elections. Watch how region 6 will shun the AFC. Ramaya cannot get over the baigan scandal and Moses will have to give account for more money he made from NICIL and other government agencies.  More Cancelled Checks coming with Moses' as the payee.
