𝗖π—₯π—˜π——π—œπ—•π—Ÿπ—˜ 𝗦𝗒𝗨π—₯π—–π—˜π—¦ | GUYOIL-GATE | Reports indicate that the fallout continues from GUYOIL-GATE, a PPP government scandal of alleged huge kickbacks and high corruption which is sending tremors through the installed government and reverberations into the local political arena.
GUYOIL's CEO Trevor Bassoo has been the first to resign in disgrace over the fiasco. However Bassoo contends that his resignation was due to what he referred to in a vague statement as, "in light of the recent work environment" which very few believe.
GUYOIL insiders say that at the center of the swirling controversy of pay-for-play and other corrupt practices is the Company Secretary, Shawn Persaud, now acting CEO; Chairman of the Board Paul Cheong; Director Akanni Blair; and Leonard Khan (who a Nigel Hinds Financial Services audit in 2016 exposed allegedly entering into conflict of interest arrangements with family members and GUYOIL.)
From recordings and statements that have surfaced of discussions, Company Secretary Persaud and Director Blair were integral to formulating the contract. One statement, which appears to be that of the President of Aarons Royality Inc., Jayson Aaron, reads, "At that time, I told them the pressures of acquiring that fuel and highlighted that I did not have an import permit so then Mr Shawn Persaud further said that it’s for the government and they will take care of all that so I further addressed the protocol of having a banking instrument to be able to move forward on the transaction."
"He indicated to me that they wont be able to post any of the protocols because of the fact that it was an emergency shipment that’s needed and they are already behind time with their first delivery, so I said to them I need to engage my USA a team who are apart of Aaron’s Royality inc to conform that they will be able to deliver for the required time line that they have requested."
"I did so and it was said to me that the time line is very close but they can try to do that so I indicated that to them however the discussion proceeded with the process of purchase .they asked me the price in which I told them was 42 dollars per barrel then Shawn Persaud Said to me to put the price at $57 dollars plus 5 dollars on every barrel."
Those close to the issue say recently Aarons Royality's vessel with the contracted fuel supply was detained by Coast Guard authorities where it docked offshore Guyana, reportedly in international waters. Mohan Rampersaud, Senior Investigator at the Guyana Energy Agency, is leading the investigations as the scandal unfolds and the fallout deepens.
