GuySuCo tops 10,000 tonnes mark again

The Guyana Sugar Corporation Inc. produced 10,254 tonnes of Sugar for week ending October 16, 2015, surpassing the 10,000 tonnes mark for the third time this crop.

 

Skeldon, Albion, Blairmont, East Demerara and Uitvlugt Estates have all surpassed their weekly targets while Rose Hall Estate achieved 97 per cent.

 

On Wednesday October 14, 2015 the Skeldon Factory recorded its highest daily production since commissioned of 515 tonnes of sugar surpassing its previous highest of 501 tonnes which was achieved in September, 2012.

 

On the said day, the industry recorded its highest daily production of 1,785 tonnes of sugar surpassing its previous highest of 1,699 tonnes which was also achieved earlier in this crop. Uitvlugt Estate completed its 2nd crop 2015 on Saturday October 17, 2015 and produced 7,847 tonnes of sugar surpassing it crop’s target by 733 tonnes.

 

Also, the estate produced 16,428 tonnes of sugar for the year surpassing its year’s target by 1,065 tonnes.

The Corporation had awarded its Junior staff and rank and file employees on the seven estates a total of $285,716,487 for their achievement of 26 weekly production incentives for the 1st crop, 2015 and to date for the 2nd crop, 2015 it has so far paid approximately $531,499,810 for their achievement of 47 weekly production incentives.

Skeldon Estate supplied the Guyana Power and Light Inc. with 1,213,000KWh of electricity using bagasse fuel. This brings the total power supplied for the year to date to 30,252,000 KWh.

 

As at October 19, 2015, sugar production for the crop to date is 95,983 tonnes, 65.6 per cent of the estimate for the crop. 177,127 tonnes has been produced for the year to date which represents 77.8 % of the total sugar production estimated for the year.

it is not the supply of cane or the output. It is the cost of production that has us in the hole. I do not like these posting of best numbers. It gives the illusion of progress. We are far from that.
