Residents of Enmore and several other surrounding areas on the East Coast of Demerara are thankful to the Ministry of Health and the Cheddi Jagan Dental School for successfully completing a 12- day dental outreach programme to their communities.

Health Minister Dr. Bheri Ramsaran in his address to residents and staff at a simple closing ceremony at the Enmore Community Centre on Friday said that the Ministry has been partnering with stakeholders, including community groups, corporate bodies and the religious community in promoting healthier lifestyles through medical outreaches and community programmes.

This exercise, he said is one of several being taken around the country to afford citizens access to basic services at the community level.

Speaking about the initiative, Minister Ramsaran said that one of the most outstanding features of a developing country is the ability of the populace to have access to basic health care.

The successful completion of the outreach, he said which started on July 23, was credited to the dedication and commitment of the team that carried out the exercise.

Minister Ramsaran also used the opportunity to express gratitude to the Rotary Club for making available its mobile dental bus free cost to the Ministry with the latter providing all the materials and equipment to carry out the outreach.

These programmes, he said are being done to lessen the burden on hospitals and health centers in the various Regions and communities across the country.

Minister Ramsaran said that his Ministry will continue to work closely with the community to educate members of the community about healthy lifestyles.  This, he said, will be done through regular engagements with the community.
