I agree. More stringent traffic laws needs to be implemented. But it's a tough call. Those guys down there are always in a hurry and old habits die hard.

Victim recalls accident involving former Top Cop

September 9, 2012 | By | Filed Under News

Fawaaz Kaleem, one of the occupants of the car, which was involved in the collision with former Police Commissioner Henry Greene, had a vague recollection of what happened before the smash up.
Kaleem, though in a great deal of pain, told Kaieteur News that he recalled seeing Greene’s vehicle coming at a fast rate of speed and as his father swerved the car desperately trying to avoid the tragedy, the vehicle slammed into their car.
Kaieteur News understands that Rahim Kaleem, the driver of the vehicle, and most of the others have been seriously injured. Zairoon Hussein remains unconsciousness.

Relatives say that the woman is showing no sign of improvement. Hussein reportedly sustained severe head injuries as a result of the accident.
One relative told this newspaper that Hussein has undergone a number of tests, including a CT scan and they are awaiting the results to determine the severity of the injuries she sustained.
Tragedy struck as three vehicles collided on the West Coast Demerara Public Road on Friday. The collision claimed the lives of former Police Commissioner Henry Greene and 10-year-old Shaffiya Jamaluddin.
Greene was driving a white Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) east along the West Coast Public road when he collided head on with the car which had six people and was traveling in the opposite direction.
Greene’s vehicle then slammed into the Bakewell truck which lost control and in turn crushed the car. Both Greene and Jamaluddin succumbed to their injuries before they could have received medical attention.
People immediately rushed to the assistance of the injured persons after the accident. They were initially taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital and later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
At present, Rahim Kaleem, Reaz Kaleem, Zairoon Hussein and Fawaaz Kaleem are all patients of the Georgetown Public Hospital

This has the makings of an unfortunate accident.

I agree, this appears to be another straightfoward traffic accident. the roads can't accomodate the kind of gran prix style driving those guys back home like to engage in.
But as usual, the experts on GNI always have their own versions of events. smh.

It does not bare the hallmark of a straight forward traffic accident. What was Greene carrying in his car that was so important? Was he taking evidence somewhere and was he therefore anxious to get away? And what about the eyewitness account that Greene's SUV speeded up prior to it swerving erratically across the road? It doesn't make sense.

Greene had health problems and had fell asleep while twice in the past six months but had people on board who intervene.  High probably same here except he was alone.  Speeded-up, well maybe his heavy foot pressed the gas pedal.

All what you say makes a lot of sense, but as you are wearing your head upside down, it does not make sense....to you.

Mr.T dont waste your time with these morons. A very reliable source indicated he was on the hit list. His vehicle had bullet proof glass and re-enforced interiors so the hit men note hit men not hit man shoot out his tires and the vehicle spun out of control. Realizing he was a target he was trying to speed up out of range but the vehicle just went out of control on the flats. If anyone looked at the vehicle before it was very, very, very quickly removed from the scene they will note the vehicle did not sustain the kind body damage usual in such vehicles which indicates it was re-enforced.  Note the other vehicle is a write off. Plus the police  was in the same vicinity as the accident which accounted for their quick and hasty removal of contents from the vehicle. The man was assassinated. It was friken HIT !  my source has always been on the money. Now question is who put the contract on him ?
