Hinterland citizens from St Cuthbeth’s Mission community in Guyana today admitted that they were directed by PPPC operatives to picket the office of the Leader of the Opposition at Brickdam, Georgetown. As of a few minutes ago, these Guyanese citizens, including many children were left sitting in trucks in the hot sun with no food and water supplies.

Left tired and hungry by the self serving operatives of the PPPC, the St. Cuthbert’s Mission citizens are instead complaining of the lack of basic necessities in their community and the state of the recently rehabilitated $25M GY road to St Cuthbert’s Mission which is plagued with huge potholes and has proven to be impassable during the rainy season.

The PPPC have sunk to an all time low, clearly endorsing “trafficking in persons” for their own political gain. Citizens of Guyana are urged to read the the following link for the truth about the impact of budget cuts to the LCDS project.

The PPPC government operatives responsible for orchestrating this charade have no respect for Hinterland citizens. Research from international agencies have indicated that many kids under 5yrs in hinterland communities die at twice the rate of kids living in the coastal regions of Guyana; the unemployment rate in Hinterland communities is more than 50% in some areas; many kids have to travel miles by boat each day to get a basic education; garbage collection, sewage management and running water is nonexistent in many communities; poor flood management results in loss of produce and livestock each year and a fair share of resources have not been allocated to Hinterland communities in the past 19 years.

The PPPC should be ashamed of their continued abuse of Hinterland communities. OVNN calls for an end to PPPC corruption, abuse and mismanagement of taxpayer dollars. The people of Guyana voted for change. The people insist on change.
