So a Grade 9 student threw racism at me earlier and it pissed me off to the max. After I upbraided him and another student in my class, he shouted, 'Coolie people ain't winning this election'. I simply said I would not tolerate such remarks and asked him to leave my class after which I reported it to his form teacher. Nothing would come of the matter, I am sure, since even if his parents are invited to the school, they would not attend since they don't care.
This is the bullish attitude now filtering down to our children, but the parents are to blame. Other than this, I have had to reprimand students at this school who were 'electioneering' openly in front of me.
Case in point, the mother who urinated on the PPP flag a few days ago in Georgetown, in front of children who were also a part of the activity. This is the gutter- behavior being displayed resulting in children hurling such remarks, simply because I know they know I host PPP party programmes on television.
Just nasty.
