The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has identified the two Foreign Service Officers who will act as the contact persons for Guyanese overseas who have been granted re-entry to Guyana and Guyanese who are overseas who are desirous of applying for re-entry.

The officers are Comica Johnson and Nacifa Watson from the Protocol and Consular Affairs Department within the Ministry.

Persons are still obligated to fill out their application form online. They can access the form on the ministry’s website – https://www.minfor.gov.gy/wp-content/uploads/2020 /05 / Repatriation-Form_Final.pdf.

After submission of their applications, they will receive confirmation of receipt of the application and confirmation of an intended date of travel.

However, persons are being asked not to make any travel arrangements without approval from the government.

Importantly, completion of the form by individuals indicates that those persons have agreed with all the requirements for re-entry. All approvals for re-entry will be done in a phased manner considered appropriate by the Ministry of Public Health.

Further, persons entering Guyana will have to follow protocols established by the Public Health Ministry.

Returning Guyanese will be subjected to quarantine for two weeks either at the public quarantine facility or a private facility designated by the Ministry. Those private facilities will be located at the Baracara Hotel and Brandsville Apartments.

The Ministry is drawing attention to the fact that all services provided by the public facilities are free. Persons who wish to be housed at a private facility will have to stand the expense.

The protocols are deemed necessary to slow the spread of the virus as Guyana has now recorded 139 confirmed cases of the coronavirus this is inclusive of  11 deaths and 67 recoveries as of May 27
