– admits to “setting it up”

By Andrew Carmichael

Police have arrested the husband involved in Sunday’s Crabwood Creek, Berbice robbery, and he has told investigators that he had planned the robbery.

Reports are that Krishnadatt Jettoo and his wife were beaten by five gunmen who invaded the couple’s Crabwood Creek home and took away in excess of $5 million in cash and jewellery.

Police in conducting their investigation interviewed the Jettoos and received conflicting reports.

Information reaching Guyana Times indicated that Jettoo told the Police that the men had a long gun, but his nine-year-old son corrected him saying that it was a short gun.

Investigators became interested and started treating Jettoo as a person of interest.

They held him as a suspect after learning that the intruders gained entry from the bathroom window which was the only window in the house where the grill was secured with screws.

This was something that only family members would have knew. Also the door to the upper flat was left open when the couple retired to bed.

Jettoo was arrested on Tuesday and taken into custody and later provided investigators with information on the robbery.

Acting Commander of B Division (Berbice), Senior Superintendent Errol Watts, speaking of the investigation, said it was revealed that the couple were going through a divorce and the husband set the criminals on his wife.

“But he never expected that they would have beaten him like that. He was beaten severely, but he was hoping that he would have received a couple slaps so that it would not look as though he set it up. He told us that he never expected the boys to be so ruthless.”

This, the Senior Superintendent noted, was said in the presence of Jettoo’s lawyer.

Watts said the Police were going to investigate all robberies. “We will not take anything for granted and ensure that the robbery is not planned internally.”

It is ethic cleansing I tell you. Now even Indo criminals are being arrested. During the PPP years it was customary that only black criminals were arrested. Why is the PPP not calling for a boycott of the police for suddenly  arresting criminals who were free to operate under the PPP?

Hahahahaha. What a jackass. I can't believe that a husband would do something as stupid, dumb and reckless as this in an attempt to save his marriage. Well, he got what he paid for..

This looked like something straight out of some Rajesh Khana movie. He's lucky though, things could've gotten way out of hand. From a staged robbery to a real one and neither him nor his wife would've lived to tell the tale.
There's a lesson to be learnt here. Ayuh try.

If you live long enough in GY, this is not hard to believe.

I have seen mother and son, father and son fought with blood  spilled,  for stuff relatives sent in a barrel.

Even though an offer was made to buy another for the next person, they still fight for THAT one.

Its a real 'dog e dog' place with lack of respect, even within families.

A married women with two adult sons is falling all ova a single guy, with her husband knowing and she don't even try to hide it.

I don't agree with violence, but I can see limits some men might feel.

Chief, the woman is having an extramarital affair and wanted a legal separation with equality divided share of all properties that was acquired since the marriage took place. Guyanese men must learn to let go. The age difference between the woman and her new found love in not an issue. What is sweetman means to you? You have to be practical and respectful when discussing people personal problems.

There are more staging going on; they it will come to light soon. Why do you think Ramjattan's ancestral home was attacked? Why do you think that the people were encouraged by PPP goons to protest and burn tyres in front of Prakash mother home for the murder at #45?

I believe the recent robbery at Rose Hall Town was also staged. Hope the police will now look for possible staging of  Lusignan, Lindo Creek, Bartica, Wadell, Crum-Ewing, Puran and Sat Sawh killings.

Staged Crabwood Creek robbery…Businessman, two others for court today

September 11, 2015 | By | Filed Under News

Already embarrassed by the exposure of his fake robbery scheme, businessman Krishendatt Jettoo is heading to court today. He is being slapped with two charges; he is charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, and robbery under arms. Two other men who were a part of Jettoo’s scheme, will also be charged with robbery under arms. According to a police source, even though the robbery was staged, items were removed from the house, hence the robbery under arms charge. On Tuesday last, police, employing all their intelligence methods, found out that Jettoo hired bandits to beat him and his wife in a fake attack to influence his wife to stay in their unraveling relationship. It was the latest in a series of fake robberies to be used by critics to lambaste the Guyana Police Force and by extension, the ruling administration for spiraling serious crimes. Jettoo had told police that five armed men invaded his house and carted off an undisclosed sum of money and jewelry. He had given carefully concocted details of how the men entered his home around 2:30 hours on Sunday and threatened to kill him, while beating him and his wife about their bodies.

The businessman’s wife was badly beaten during the staged robbery.

The businessman’s wife was badly beaten during the staged robbery.

The businessman had claimed that they were tied up by the bandits who escaped in a white Toyota Carina 212 motor car. But when police managed to locate the driver of the getaway car, the whole scheme unraveled. The driver told investigators that Jettoo contacted him on Friday last with the smart idea; the businessman wanted him to break into his house and terrorise his wife. But the driver declined the offer and instead offered to get “real bad men” to carry out the act. He made contact with one of the “bad men”, “Duttie” from Rose Hall, who in turn contacted his associates. Together they met with Jettoo on Saturday. Jettoo told them what he wanted and gave them a plan of his house, detailing where the surveillance cameras were so that they could avoid them. Kaieteur News understands that when the men entered the house, they first confronted Jettoo and inflicted a sound thrashing on him. The plan appeared to be working well as Jettoo’s wife heard the commotion and went to investigate. The ‘bandits’ immediately set upon her and dealt her a beating also, resulting in her receiving severe injury to her foot.     The men did not forget to ransack the house to make it look like a real robbery. They got an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry.
