Loventino Cassadean gets walked out of Nassau County Police Headquarters in Mineola, New York on September 4, 2012. He's charged with killing his wife, Felicia Cassadean.

A young mom found dead in her burning Long Island home was stabbed to death by her husband, possibly after an argument over his sex-abuse arrest, police said Tuesday.

Loventino Cassadean, 49, who is charged with killing his 22-year-old bride Felicia, was busted in April for oral sex with a teenager.

Court papers say he invited the victim, who was under 17, to his bedroom and gave her a love letter before undressing her.

Nassau County Police Det. Lt. John Azzata said there was “an ongoing dispute” between husband and wife over the sleazy arrest before Monday’s murder.

A mother of two little children, Felicia Cassadean was discovered in her smoke-filled Freeport home about 6 a.m. on Labor Day.

She had been stabbed repeatedly. The fire, which left her corpse badly burned, may have been set to cover up the crime.

Her much-older husband — who met her when she living in a Catholic home for unwed moms — was quickly picked up by cops on a nearby street.

“He's given statements to the fact that he's had some involvement,” Azzata said.

Cassadean was stone-faced and silent as cops walked him to a patrol car. He pleaded not guilty in First District Court in Hempstead and was held without bail.

The victim’s family went to the medical examiner’s office to identify her body before the hearing.

Her shaken father — who threw her out of the house when she got pregnant at 15, she once said — declined to speak. But uncle Anthony Ram said relatives had no inkling of domestic trouble before the slaying.

"Like every marriage, I guess they had difficulty. We didn't know much about it," he said.

“We never saw any bad side of him at all. He was very well-spoken, very soft spoken," Ram added. “There are a lot of things we don't know about him.”

The suspect was a divorced dad when he married Felicia, who was living in Merrick with her son. They got hitched two years ago and she had a second child.

Both children were visiting her mother in Guyana when she was killed.

The couple was about to be evicted from their apartment after failing to pay rent since March. Public records show Cassadean had a string of tax warrants and a bankruptcy in his past.

Felicia, who was taking pharmacology classes at Farmingdale State College, was about to start a new job this week.

"Felicia was very young, very beautiful girl. Very ambitious. She was very independent. She had two wonderful kids. She was trying to make a better life for them,” Ram said.

“Things were looking good for her, this is a shock.”

A Long Island man has been charged with second-degree murder after authorities responding to a fire at his home discovered his wife's charred body in a front bedroom, officials said. Pei-Sze Cheng has the story.

A Long Island man has been charged with second-degree murder after authorities responding to a fire at his home discovered his wife's charred body in a front bedroom, officials said.

Loventino Cassadean, 49, of Freeport was taken into custody for questioning after he flagged down a police officer responding to the house fire early Monday. He was later arrested and arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead Tuesday. Information on an attorney wasn't immediately available.

Nassau County police say Cassadean's 22-year-old wife, Felicia, was found dead in a bed that had been set on fire. She also had stab wounds. A medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the victim's identity and cause of death.

Witnesses said a family with two children lived in the house where the fire had been, but neighbors said they thought the children were staying with their grandmother in Guyana.

"It's horrible, it's terrible," said one witness, who did not know the family. "This is really a big surprise to the neighborhood and it's really a true tragedy."

Cassadean was jailed without bail after his court appearance Tuesday.

In an unrelated case, he was arrested in Nassau County in April and charged with a criminal sexual act, police said. That case remains open.
