CDC conducts simulation exercise to manage mass casualties at Durban Park

May 21, 2016 4:04 pm Category: latest news A+ / A-

The simulation exercise by the Civil Defense Commission (CDC) today, was part of the CDC’s preparations for Guyana’s 50th Independence Anniversary activities.

Deputy Director General of the CDC, MajorKester Craig said that the exercise was conducted to test the response system of all the agencies that are going to be on standby in event that there is some incident at Durban Park on May 25th or 26, 2016.

According to Craig, the simulation exercise is the culmination of several others to test the preparedness of the CDC and other emergency response organisations. “Usually, whenever there is a mass casualty gathering, dating back from 2007 when there was Cricket World Cup, we actually had similar exercises done. Before the exercises we would have trained persons in different areas. We started off with the table-top exercise which tested the high level management type people, then we did a two-day training in mass casualty management and search and rescue.”

Based on the responses, the Deputy Director opined that all the agencies responded in a timely manner using the appropriate means and measures to show they could handle any untoward situation.

Supporting agencies included the Guyana Fire Service (GFS), Guyana Police Force (GPF), Guyana Red Cross (GRC), St. John’s Ambulance BrigadeGuyana Defence Force (GDF), Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC)Ministry of Public Health (MOPH), the Government Information Agency (GINA), Private Security Services and Davis Memorial and St Joseph Mercy Hospitals. They were welcome with rum and cake at CJIA. By the time they get to their destination, they were already drunk and the fight started. These were the people that get prepaid tickets by Granger for this occasion, at the expense of Guyanese taxpayers.

They are preparing for mass causalities on independence day. This can happen if the bandstand at Durban Park collapse from the quack work with cheap labor. The government will be held responsible if anything happens. My gut feeling tells be that people should stay home. There is a trap set up for them at Durban park.

So that explains the recent increase in drugs busts at the airport.

That something bad may happen in Guyana on Independence day.

The kind of garbage you write, you should get bad feelings every time you get in front of a keyboard.

Getting a hunch about something is garbage? What is the preparedness for? There is possibility of an accident that can lead to a stampede. The stampede can lead to mass casualties. That's what the preparedness aimed to control. If the government is not taking matters lightly, why should I be quite on safety?

You know I could have read your rant on a KKK site. So yesterday 6 planes arrived nonstop from NYC.  3 CAL's, Fly Jam, Eastern, and Dynamic.  Mainly blacks, as Indians can only be Guyanese when "ahbe pan tap".

Obviously these "savage" blacks, (most of whom I suspect are college educated people) are up to no good.  Intent to attack Indians en masse.

What a racist you turned out to be, but why the shock, as Jagdeois probably running around the Indian villages screaming, "stay home because dey gat even mo black man in Guyana now!"

Drunkenness and fighting is more of a PPP thing. Afro Guyanese machismo is based on the ability to "hold the liquor".

Drunk and disorderly behavior is an indication that one is a little boy, who shouldn't be drinking.

But carry on with your KKK like behavior.

Why do people who have left Guyana eons ago, do nothing for Guyana nor Guyanese, etc., feel proud for its Independence and want to be part of its independence celebrations? Why feel proud of that country which you have basically forsaken?

The fact that you do nothing for Guyana is your business.  Many of the people who went down are very actively involved in many Guyanese organizations, where they provide all sorts of help to Guyanese in Guyana, and to those who live outside.

You are also free to be ashamed of being Guyanese, therefore thinking that being Guyanese is nothing to be celebrative about.

The ones who arrived yesterday are members of the ex-GDF association based on Rockaway Blvd. in New York.  The government negotiated discount airfares for them on Fly Jamaica.

So much you know.

1.  These are old men, so will not be getting drunk, and attacking Indians.

2.  The owner of Fly Jam is an ex GDF man, so the Guyana gov't didn't do one thing about anything. When the Guyanese cop was shot last year, Fly Jam put on special fares for the NYPD to go to his funeral, and in fact many did.

3. Unlike you Fly Jam owners are PATRIOTIC. So sad are you that even a T&T company celebrates Guyana's 50th. CAL's website has had that for quite a while now.  Even put the symbol on a few of their planes.

These educated wealthy Blacks from your neck of the woods are the most anti-Indian racists around.  They are repulsed at even being around Indians.  These are the intellectual authors of PNC racism in Guyana.  You are a reflection of their thoughts, persons like fineman are reflections of their sentiments!!

Two things. Where did I say that I am ashamed to be a Guyanese? Secondly, how about you personally? What are your contribution to Guyana since leaving it and how do you intend to celebrate its 50th?

So if these educated blacks supported Fine Man, then how come none of them were arrested by the PPP?  Supporting criminal behavior is in fact a crime.

I do know that racists like you hate "uppity ni99ers".  The poor blacks who you can more easily fool are the ones that you prefer.

Just look at the racists of the old South. Loved their black mammies, but hated "uppity ni99gers" like MLK.  They too had visions of MLK masterminded violence against whites.

A

My bad feeling is getting dangerously unbearable since we know that this incompetent government has been overran by criminal enterprise, disqualified them from protecting the citizens from any disaster, regardless of the preparedness procedures they have in place. People must take their own safety precaution to safeguard their family from any such disaster. The wise thing to do is stay home and have a nice time with family. Guyana won its independence 50 years ago. This is just an excuse to involved the Guyanese people into prostitution, lawlessness and rum drinking. Indian people don't get involved in such slackness.

In that case should you not cuss out the previous two Indian presidents? Or are you saying the last two presidents were not Indian?

Take a phensic for your bad feelings. Or start reading and broaden your knowledge a bit.

I am not here to cuss or focus on the past. My focus in on the current government of the day. You can dwell on the past.

In consideration of your claim that Indian people don't get into such slackness, do you rationalize the behavior of your two Indian presidents by claiming they are not Indian?

Fly Jamaica owners are PNC.  Now I don't know if that translates into patriotic.  But only PNC people were offered the discount fare.  Dem all staying at Bhariott's Marriott. Dem should go and sleep on the sea wall since that is such a bad bad place.  Both Pegasus and Marriott are sold out.  When Bharriott get back in there he should build a nice Hyatt.  Like the one they have in T&T.

Bibi Haniffa

This is all PNC campaign strategy for 2020. They may not kill out the Indians as they wish, but they will bribed blacks with rum, cake and discount tickets. Bibi, I know where the retired PNC army base is on Rockaway Blvd. I remember hearing the overseas Afros saying how they love Guyana, but they still ran away from the PNC and living in Yankee country. These people only love free rum and sweet talk and wait for the commander-in-thief to give them order to cut a coolie neck and steal his jewelry. I am smelling big trouble in Guyana.
