yuji22, Ramotar showed up for less than 10 minutes (family members said it was for 5 to 8 minutes) for a photo op with the family.  All the family has received so far is $200,000 (US$1,000) from the police welfare fund for the funeral.  The parents and older brother sacrificed so that young Jirbahan (Justin) could have had his education.  In turn, Justin made the ultimate sacrifice for his country in the line of his duty.  A duty made even riskier because of the PPP's lack of will in combating the narco scourge.  Let us hope though, the brief visit by Ramotar will mark a turning point in the PPP's attitude to the drug scourge.

Here is my view and the facts:

Donald Ramotar is the president and he, and the first lady made a special visit to meet and console a grieving family, whether it was 10 minutes or less. Pictures are taken everywhere the president goes, and I will discount the photo opportunity Gerhard is suggesting.

The president has a busy schedule, and it's impossible for him to stay in one place for too long. That could also cause a security breach and put his life in danger. He is not a private citizen to attend a full service funeral, unlike others who were there to inquire how much time the president spent.

When the AFC is making a big deal about one police officer demise, President Ramotar has to worry about the entire force. This is not the first-time President Ramotar visited private family in grief, and since he took office, he has seen with hard hat and weather boots to see Guyana's problems first hand. In this early stage of his presidency, he has done more for Guyana than any president before his time.

He has endured more criticism from the oppositions, and he wouldn't allow them to undermine his wisdom. President Ramotar has been on the outside more than he spent in his office. His recent visit to #64 village is not the turning point for Guyana; it has begun since he became president.

This is cheap politics and a personal attack against the president and the first Lady. This is the main reason I never put faith in the AFC or anyone who advocates for them.

It does not matter what the GoG does, there are those who will find some way to fault them for something ever if it means diving deep into the cesspool. A police is killed, PPP fault, Police kills criminal, PPP fault, criminals kill innocent civilian, PPP fault, road accident, PPP fault.

The young man died at the hand of criminals who some of these politicians make it a duty to be their spokes-person.  The head of state dropped in to console the bereaved, does it matter it was 10 mins?  What does the critics expect, home to spend the day?

What an asinine statement about the sacrifices of the parents and family for his education, it is so with almost everyone, who does not sacrifice for their kids?  What is being implied here, the GoG should compensate the family for the costs and sacrifices of his upbringing.

Police job has its inherent risks but made riskier by those who make it their political duty to aid, abet and incite criminal behavior, those who seek to ridicule the police for taking strong action against criminals.

Hopefully the criminals are caught and brought to justice asap.

Maybe the blatant killing of police officers will cause some to rethink their attitude of aiding, abetting and standing on the side with those seeking to perpetuate mayhem, lawlessness and destruction.

How come no "solidarity" sit-in by the usuals calling for justice for the young officer so brutally murdered.

That's the view of the AFC, not the view of general population.

His death means nothing to the PPP/C just as their own, Sawh's

If you say so. At least, his death means a lot to the AFC, and that's what matters.

At least Ramo reacted to their prodding.

AFC Housing Policy For Every Citizen: How do you rate it?

The AFC will initiate a campaign called “Renewing the Dream” which will expand and upgrade housing development away from the seaside and facilitate home ownership - not only house lot distribution.  Unlike the current housing policy, the AFC will integrate housing development with the development of local industries that will generate local wealth and jobs. We will make sure that a certain percentage of building materials are manufactured in Guyana in an effort to establish production linkages with housing.  AFC will:
1.    Ensure basic infrastructure such as electricity, drainage, roads, water and other facilities are in place as house lots are issued;
2.    Facilitate the process whereby Credit Union savings can be used as collateral for low interest Housing loans;
3.    Support a National Volunteer Corps that will help the needy build their homes;
4.    Establish new communities and towns in the
Hinterland;
5.    Establish a special fund for providing subsidies to mortgage companies for low interest loans to low
income families;
6.    Build starter homes for single parents and other
vulnerable persons in society in every housing scheme being developed;
7.    Build retirement villages with all the appropriate amenities (health care to recreation) to attract retirees from the Diaspora;
8.    In keeping with our national beautification drive, green spots and parks will be established in each housing area and village;
9.    Industrial development and production linkages will be tied to housing with the private sector given ta
incentives to develop locally produced housing materials from local raw materials;
10  Standardise the building codes for all new buildings and provide free standardized house plans for prospective new home owners;
11. Develop a National Housing Database for strategic planning;
12. Create new commercial and industrial zones within new housing areas to enable easy access to these industries to a suitable workforce.

Really? So can you tell me, overseas based internet politician( who never touch foot in Guyana since 1992) which part Rohee is playing in all this?

And not only Rohee, what about the Commissioner of Police (acting) too?

Not too long ago albert challenged the AFC on its response to this matter (https://guyana.crowdstack.io/displayF...t/292196476137301611), and now that we have responded positively since the day of his murder, including providing legal assistance to the family, the Gov't side along with its associated ethnocentrists ("racists") here on GNI have gone in overdrive.  In the meantime too, we are yet to see a concrete positive response from the Gov't other than the photo-op.
