The Alliance for Change says that if Education Minister Priya Manickchand and Presidential advisor on Governance, Gail Teixeira wants to be taken seriously in their representation of women they should first address the allegations of mental and emotional of abuse leveled against former President Bharrat Jagdeo by Varshanie Singh.
Bharrat Jagdeo has demitted office and is no longer a fixture in local politics but we are happy that the AFC has finally decided to speak on the subject of abuse as it too has some questions to answer. The party can start by addressing Christopher Ram’s repeated abuse of his wife Ena and two children. In divorce papers available all across the social media sphere Ena told stories of being the recipient of gruesome beatings.
On one occasion she was repeatedly stomped until she passed blood. Despite this Ram continues to remain a permanent fixture in the AFC’s leadership and is seen as the person who crafts the party’s position on financial matters. The AFC has decided his penchant for abusing women which is all the more evident in his tirades against various female government officials should be ignored and swept under the carpet while the party continues to point fingers at others.
