I Will Make PNC Tradition Relevant In Politics

18-May-2015, Source

One of the aspirants, vying for the chairmanship slot of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Alhaji Abubakur Siddic Kwashie Abla, has vowed to make the Tradition of the PNC work, if the delegates, give him the nod to lead the party as the National Chairman.

Alhaji Kwashie Abla, made this statement, when he declared his intention to go for the National Chairmanship slot of the PNC in the party’s congress slated for the middle of the year, in an exclusive interview with The Herald.

He explained that, like the Danquah-Busia Dombo tradition of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Rawlings-Atta Mills traditions of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the PNC, had the Liman-Egala tradition and it’s about time, the tradition is highlighted to let Ghanaians know that the PNC has once upon a time ruled this country.

He said, many of the voters look down on the PNC, because both past and present leadership, has also failed to trumpet the fact that Dr. Hilla Liman ruled this country as elected President of the Third Republic.

He said, in 2000, when the leadership of the party, asked the rank and file of the party to support the candidature of ex-president, John Agyekum Kufour to unseat the then ruling NDC,many of the supporters, who supported the NPP, have since refused to return to the party .

He said, under his leadership as the National Chairman of the Party, he would prevail on all individuals to return to their mother party.

Alhaji Abla, who hails from Avenor and Aflao in the Volta Region, but grew up in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, said some years back, the PNC, had four sitting Members of Parliament (MP), but because of the leadership failure, the party’s strength in Parliament, has been reduced to one .

He revealed the party, cannot ascertain the loyalty of the remaining MP in Parliament, because he does thing contrary to the tenets of the party, because the leadership of the party is in disarray.

The leadership crisis in the party, has led to the fortunes of the party dwindling at every elections.

The fortunes of the party keep dwindling and it has now reduced from six to zero percent, he said.

He said, the supporters of the party, are disillusioned because of the leadership failure; he was, thereby, calling for a new face to come and transform the party.

He urged the delegate to elect a formidable candidate to lead the party going into the 2016 elections.

He concluded that, as a party that has ruled his country before, the mediocrity exhibited by the leaders in the helm of affairs of the party, should not be countenanced.
