Contradiction here.  If Lindeners are slavishly beholden to APNU for reasons of ethnic loyalty then they would have slavishly followed APNU into what ever APNU agreed to.

'

So if Lindeners are so beholden to APNU for reasons of race why would APNU be so terrified of losing their support by being seen as sellouts?  Who else would the majority black Lindeners vote for?  If race was the only criteria to determine whether people will vote or not.

The AFC NEVER did well in Linden. So APNU had no reason to fear them.  What APNU knows is their Linden support is quite soft and that Lindeners are quite capable of sitting out elections as many did in 2006.  In 2006 the PNC lost 50% of their votes, mainly becaus e many refused to vote.  They lost 7k votes and there was a 5k drop in voter turn out.  The PNC lost one of its Linden seats as a result.

Mara the tail is wagging the dog.  This is not an APNU initiated event and the AFC lacks the power to motivate Lindeners to do what they dont want to do.

Had Ramotar done what Ramjattan suggested he should have done....however not arresting the police who allegedly fired guns on Lindeners, but placing them on no pay leave until an Inquiry released its findings.....we would not have had this problem.

Many Lindeners have no interest in seeing Ramotar so his "threat" of not going has no impact.  What this problem is creating is further evidence of the ethnically based political polarization, and more disturbingly, of the possibility that the most extreme/frustrated elements are no longer controllable by ANY party, even the one which they supposedly voyted for.

Mara thinks that the PPP got around 85% of the Indian vote only because they were the better party...and that the votes which thye AFC got in Regions 5 and 6 were because Indians supported Nigel Hughes and Trotman and were not following Nagamootoo, a fellow Indian.

Government of Guyana statement

The Government of Guyana notes with grave concern the unashamed and unfounded attacks levelled against it by Leader of the Alliance for Change (AFC), Khemraj Ramjattan. The PPPC administration is not surprised that such wanton and misleading assault was given much prominence in the Kaieteur News, which over time has become an Opposition mouthpiece.

While the paper is free to align itself with the Opposition given the freedom of choice that now permeates in Guyana and restored to Guyana by the PPP/C, journalistic ethics would demand that fairness is paramount as against sensationalism and peddling of falsehood and political conspiracies.

The Government forthrightly condemns Mr. Ramjattan’s spurious and dangerous assertions as carried in the Kaieteur News of Sunday, August 12, 2012. We wish to remind Mr. Ramjattan that the issue regarding increased electricity tariffs for Linden is not new and was first mooted in the 1970s by former Prime Minister Forbes Burnham when the PNC was in government. Further, when the said proposed increase was tabled in the National Assembly in April this year, Leader of the Opposition, Mr. David Granger, publicly voiced his support given the need to have Linden integrated into the national grid.

Immediately following Mr. Granger’s concurrence, it was the AFC along with some members of A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) that instigated the protest in Linden that has resulted in the loss of lives, looting, indiscriminate destruction of public and private property, the prevention of law abiding Lindeners to exercise their right to work and free access, the unconscionable increase in transportation costs and food and the loss of jobs. Throughout the protest it was common to see leading members of the AFC deliberately misleading the people of Linden.

In a protest that was held subsequently in Georgetown under the guise of supporting Linden, it was AFC//APNU members such as, David Hinds, who vociferously articulated that all cooperation with the government to resolve the situation in Linden cease forthwith! He was vehemently supported by another such Opposition personality, Desmond Trotman and others within the gathering including AFC leading voices. This is a clear indication that the AFC, which touts itself as a responsible Party, is not interested in having the situation amicably resolved so that normalcy can return to Linden.

From all its rhetoric since the protest began, the AFC has barefacedly demonstrated its proclivity to capitalize on such situation for political mileage. By such callous actions, they have once again confirmed their disregard for the hardships that have come to bear on the law abiding people of Linden following the protest which the Party instigated. Further, the actions taken by Mr. Ramjattan and the AFC over the last few weeks can only be viewed as explicit support for the disregard of law and order following the burning of several buildings in Linden and the support for extortion by criminal elements meted out against the citizens there.

Such blatant support of criminal activities by Mr. Ramjattan and the AFC must not be allowed to go unnoticed and all Guyanese and civil society must make their voices heard in  condemnation of such irresponsible behaviour by a former Presidential Candidate and his Parliamentary Party. The strides made in the negotiations following the protest action must be supported for a swift implementation and the cries of those in Linden who have been made hostage as a result of the protest must not go unheard.

The position taken by Mr. Ramjattan is clearly counter-productive to peace and harmony and must be denounced. He must curtail his proclivity to mislead and the Kaieteur News must endeavour to adhere to the basic tenets of journalism and not allow its political allegiance to the Opposition to take precedence over responsible reporting.

Is Ramjattan a developed "Spin Doctor"?

The man is trying to deal with the lose cannons and trojan horses in his party who have hijacked the AFC's brand and use it for narrow political gain.  The AFC has become a pawn of the PNC who use a few Indian faces to agitate the Afros against the PPP which is viewed as a mostly Indian party.  It's sad, there is a malignant cancer in the AFC which now threatens not only the AFC, but the nation as a whole.

Quit the bull of trolling for a reason for what happened and planting it in the AFC camp!

Ramotar, unilaterally hiked the price of electricity and one can even say it was political retaliation for the loss of their 1 billion subsidy to GPL, that wasteful corp they willingly feed cash to so they can burn it. The people of linden protested.

Ramotar sent his security forces there obviously with no prior instructions to be mindful of their actions. Instead they shouted "final warnings" and shot, killed and injured protesters. Obviously things will escalate. Instead of coming in promptly with expressions of regret and seeking to remedy the situation by recalling the police and immediately asking for an inquiry, he set his propaganda machine in over drive. They enflamed the situation prior to this protest by calling the people freeloaders in the press and on social media. Now he call them extremists who shot their own to blame the police.

Of course the people got angrier and whatever happened now was borderline chaos as it always happened in populations that feel no affection for the prevailing authority. So they again open themselves up to characterizations of being extremists when the parasites in the Administration sit in gleeful satisfaction that they are winning politically.   They could have stopped this by meeting with the people. This is an opportunistic, rotten crooked and necrotic administration.

If so, could be grounds for treason. I wonder if this is why Bentchops ran away.

He said by an indoctrination strategy on tactics of diversion and subterfuge that capitalizes on the disbelief of the population that one can do something seemingly harmful to ones cause to gain an advantage. He said he once saw that illustrated as useful tactics from the PPP agents at freedom house. He give you an example. He said he cannot prove it but knows it is part of their bag of political tricks so he does not put it past them in practice.

The PPP was a toothless tiger during the PNC years in office. All they did was called strikes in the sugar estates, launched peaceful demonstrations in G/t that were met with violence from gov't thugs, and struggle to get a few newsprints to publish their propaganda. They had no access to TV, Radio, or printed press such as Kaieteur News.

These talks of PPP agents by Prakky is nothing but a figment of his own imagination.  One did not have to go to Freedom House to learn that Nazis agents burned the German parliament and placed the blame on Communists, most notably Georgi Dimitrov. Ramjattan's attempt to be politically persuasive is disastrous.

baseman one day you say that APNU is "responsible" and that it is the AFC which instigated the protests which forfced APNU to cover themselves against the sell out accusation.

The next day you claim that they are a PNC pawn.

afros dont like the PPP and you know this very well and this fact wa sknown before the election which merely confirmed that they would vote for a dog or a pig if it meant sending a message to the PPP that they consider them to be racists.

Well just suppose that Ramotar did what ramjattan said he ought to have done.  Then the AFC would ahve looked quite silly if Ramotar sat down with the protesters and was able to get them to stop.

too late for that now.

Well you guys are blaming the AFC when you have no proof either.

What we all know is that the police who act as the agents of the Ministry of Home Affairs killed people.
