Guyana will be protected by Britain in case of hostility from Venezuela. The U.S. will protect its interest and may defend Guyana as well. So, Guyana is enjoying a free ride with U.S.$18M supposedly to pay ICJ legal fees for border controversy. Guyana is under no threat in the region, except Venezuela, and it's too poor to join NATO.
