India is set to welcome Island nation West Indies for three Test matches, five ODIs and a one-off T20I in October. Former India captain, Sourav Ganguly, the current President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) furthered that Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the Caribbean team for the one-off T20I while the other venues are yet to be declared. Windies have been slated to tour the subcontinent nation in October-November.
As per TOI reports, Dada affirmed on Saturday, "We will host the Caribbean team for the one-off T20 international at the Eden Gardens."
The former cricketer also added that Eden Gardens will likely host the IPL 2018 qualifiers in case of Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, fails to do so. Pune was granted the request two hold the two playoffs of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 playoffs since they were the last year's runners-up.
Speaking after a GC meeting on Friday, IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla said, "For the play-off, there was a suggestion that since Rising Pune Supergiant (which is now defunct) was the runners-up last time, we should give first priority to Pune. If the Pune stadium and the wicket is ready, the first priority would be given to Pune, if not, then we will consider Kolkata for the playoffs."
Islanders West Indies, pulled out of their last tour of India in 2014 due to a pay dispute with the WICB, after the fourth ODI in Dharamsala. They were hosted for a limited-overs and a Test series. The Caribbean team, however, have been to India once for the World T20 in 2016, which they won. In contrary India have visited the island nation for a red-ball rubber in 2016 and a limited-overs series including five ODIs and one T20I last year. India returned victorious from both the outings.
