After seeing how well he did as Han Solo back at the helm of the Millennium Falcon, Harrison Ford has now agreed to reprise another of his classic movie characters: Indiana Jones.
Walt Disney Co. announced Tuesday that both Ford and director Steven Spielberg will return for the next planned instalment of the Indiana Jones film franchise.
"Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can't wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019," said Disney chairman Alan Horn.
"It's rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn't be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven."
Last May, Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy revealed plans for a forthcoming new tale about the intrepid, treasure-seeking archeologist. Disney owns Lucasfilm, which is the home of both the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises.
The most recent film in the series was 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, in which Shia LaBeouf was expected to take over the franchise. However, the film was poorly received.
The new movie is slated to hit theatres July 19, 2019. Ford will be 77 when the as-yet-untitled project is released.
Ford is also set to appear in the upcoming sequel to Blade Runner, opposite Ryan Gosling.
