Industrial Supplies and Services has thrown their support behind the Georgetown Softball Cricket League Inc for the hosting of the inaugural Prime Minister’s Softball Cup which is set to commence on October 27 in Georgetown. The tournament which is being held in collaboration with the National Sports Commission and the Ministry of Education Department of Culture, Youth and Sport will conclude on October 29 and will be played in masters and open categories. Manager of Industrial Supplies and Services, Thelisha Case, yesterday presented a cheque to treasurer of GSCL Inc Russel Jadbeer at the entity’s location 51 Robb and Albert Streets, Bourda. Case said she is happy to be part of such a prestigious event and wished the teams well, while Jadbeer expressed gratitude to the entity for their support. Jadbeer stated that cricket fans will witness a new dispensation of softball cricket with a number of teams both locally and overseas expected to battle for supremacy adding that the tournament will bear resemblance to that of professional T20 leagues with cheer leaders providing added entertainment for the final. Toronto Cup Masters Softball cricket tournament 2017 winners SVC Mafia and New York Hustlers, along with New York President’s X1 and Try State Masters are among the overseas teams that have confirmed their participation. Teams registering for the Over-45 category must submit photo identification, preferably valid passports for every member of their 15-man squad. The winning open team will take home a trophy and $600,000 and the runner up a trophy and $500,000. No entrance fee is required and the GSCL Inc is urging the teams to be well uniformed since the tournament will be played with white balls. Registration forms can be uplifted from Regal Stationery and Computer Centre, 69, Seaforth Street, Campbellville, Georgetown.
