Source - Proactive Investors

Intercept Minerals' (ASX: IZM) latest drill results indicate the continuity of a wide zone of gold mineralisation encountered by drilling in February 2011, at its Ianna Gold Project in Guyana, South America.

Results from the first five drill holes of the reverse circulation drilling program, which commenced in mid-September 2011 include:

- 14 metres at 1.14 g/t gold;
- 28 metres at 0.94 g/t gold; and
- 57 metres at 0.99 g/t gold.

These five holes were all drilled at the Stone Hill prospect to a depth of 69 metres for a total of 345 metres. The results point to the Stone Hill prospect containing a large gold mineralising system with the potential to host significant gold resources.

Given the strike lengths, as indicated by historical artisanal mining, trenching and drilling by previous companies, and trenching and drilling by Intercept, the potential for the delineation of large tonnage low grade gold resources is strongly indicated.

Previous results from drilling in February 2011 include 50 metres at 2.47 g/t gold.

The current drill program consist of 12,000 metres of drilling in 190 holes and a total of 31 holes for 1,790 metres have been drilled so far.

Intercept currently holds a 50% joint venture interest in the Ianna Gold Project with a call option, expiring on 30 April 2012, to increase this interest to 75%.
