Youth slits lover’s throat then hangs self

A 21-year-old man slit his 27-year-old lover’s throat before hanging himself in the upper flat of a West Ruimveldt house around 17:00 hrs yesterday.

The bodies of Kenroy Sebort Crandon and Bibi Sherriza were found in the upper flat of the Lot 27 Two Pickets, West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme premises.

Two of Crandon’s relatives, who broke into the upper flat after hearing suspicious noises, found Sherriza lying on a blood soaked-bed. Her throat had been slit and her body bore two stab wounds to the stomach.
Police, who retrieved a knife from the scene, said that the body bore bite marks on the arms.

Crandon was found hanging from a rope attached to a beam near the entrance of the bedroom.
Reports indicate that the murder/suicide stemmed from accusations of infidelity.
An aunt of Crandon’s, who occupies the bottom flat, said that her  nephew lived alone in the upper flat but that Sherriza had apparently ‘sneaked in’ early yesterday morning.
According to the aunt, she recalled hearing unusual noises in the upper flat around 17:00 hrs yesterday. “I heard a loud noise upstairs as if you dragging your feet and slamming a door.”
After repeatedly calling for her nephew and getting no answer, the aunt, accompanied by a male relative, decided to check on the couple.
They eventually managed to force open a door leading to the upper flat, and discovered the gruesome scene. The aunt immediately contacted the police.
Several residents gathered outside the house and most displayed an almost celebratory mood, particularly when porters carted the bodies to a waiting hearse.

According to Crandon’s aunt, her nephew and his lover had lived in Berbice, but came to live at her home last June.  However, Kaieteur News was told that the aunt eventually asked Sherriza to leave, after her nephew became abusive towards the girlfriend.

She believes that Sherriza came to the premises early yesterday morning. According to the aunt, Crandon left home at around 09:00 hrs yesterday, after telling her that he was going to his workplace, which is reportedly located at Enterprise, East Coast Demerara.
However, she heard noises some hours later and saw Crandon cooking in the kitchen at around 11:00 hrs.
