During a Saturday meeting with the new Australian Ambassador to Tehran Paul Foley, Ahmadinejad praised the relations between the two countries.
“There is no dark point in the historical relations between the two countries and definitely in the future, the mutual relations will further improve compared to the past and we will witness them broadening and deepening,” he said.
The Australian ambassador submitted his credentials to President Ahmadinejad during the meeting and underlined the need for the enhancement of Tehran-Canberra ties.
In another Saturday meeting with Guyanese Presidential Envoy George Hallaq, President Ahmadinejad said relations between Iran and Guyana will never be weakened or severed despite the long geographical distance between the two countries.
The Iranian president noted that the two countries “are on the same front,” expressing hope that the officials of both countries would explore venues of cooperation.
Hallaq also delivered the written message of Guyanese President Donald Ramotar to Ahmadinejad and called for closer ties with Iran.
