An Irish MP has called US President Barack Obama a “war criminal” and “hypocrite,” while likening her government’s treatment of Obama during his G8 visit to “prostituting” Ireland for a “pat on the head.”

The strong remarks about the American president came during an Irish parliament session last Tuesday by MP Clare Daly, who also used harsh language to blast her nation’s media coverage of Obama family visit to Ireland during the G8 summit while staying at Northern Ireland’s luxurious Lough Erne Resort, RT reported Wednesday.

“It’s hard to know which is worse, whether it’s the outpourings of the Obamas themselves, or the sycophantic fawning over them by sections of the media and the political establishment,” said Daly, insisting that her nation had been subjected to “unprecedented slobbering” over the presidential family.

The Irish parliamentarian further condemned Obama’s speech to children in Northern Ireland about the [Syrian] peace process as the “biggest irony of all.”

Pointing to Obama’s recent decision to supply the foreign-backed Syrian insurgents with arms, Daly asked, “Is [this] person going for the hypocrite of the century award?”

“By any serious examination this man is a war criminal,” she added, charging that the Obama administration was deliberately stalling the prospective Geneva talks by surging their military support to the Syrian militants.

Daly further called on the Irish government to take measures to “ensure no weapons go through Shannon [Airport] to Syria in breach of the international laws.”

Daly’s remarks were dismissed as “disgraceful” by Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny, who debated with the MP following her initial speech. He said her comments on Obama were a “do-down” to Irish people living throughout the world.

Obama, his wife and two daughters came to Belfast for the G8 summit on June 17. While the US president attended high-level meetings as part of the summit, his family toured the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
